~Wild Thang - Part 2~

Solo awoken to the sounds of tropical birds. At first he was disoriented, until he remembered what happened last night.

[flashback]

"The boy is a demon! Look at his eyes. His mother was a whore who slept with everyone. She must have slept with a demon! Those eyes are not natural! She died in childbirth! He must be burned!" a villager screamed for justice.

"He is just a kid. If we are careful he will not become our worst nightmare! He would have become our protector." Solo countered.

"Nonsense boy! This child will be the end of us! Those of ill nature must die!" another villager piped up.

"Will you be so swift to destroy a life?" Solo argued.

"Since you defend the boy, either he's got your mind or you're a demon too!" another villager added.

"You are a fool! You are all fools if you believe that we are not human. We may be the most human of you all! You are heartless to destroy such an innocent life. Or even to threaten me with such foolishness." Solo retorted angrily.

"How dare you!" the villagers screamed. "You dare accuse us of being heartless? Think about what that DEMON would do to us, to our children, to our livestock, to our very lives! He will bring destruction to this village. We will not have him amongst us!"

"Think what you want, but this boy may be our savior one day. If he is truly a demon, he may use his abilities to help us." Solo argued.

"A demon's ability is to destroy, not help. We'd be fools to let him and his kind live." a villager snarled.

"But what if he is of fae blood?" Solo asked.

"The fae have died out. They no longer exist." a villager retorted. "They are fairytales."

"Then what makes you sure that demons aren't fairytales to scare children into obedience?" Solo asked.

"Because demons exist." a villager spat.

"Kill the child! If they both run, kill them both." the elder of the village announced judgment.

"You will rue the day you made that judgment. You just wanted to keep your position as elder." Solo snarled.

"You won't live to see that day." the elder announced.

"Then so be it." Solo growled, taking flight towards the jungle.

"After them!" the crowd of villagers chanted.

Solo ran with all his might to escape the torches, the rocks, and sticks to be with the jungle he had forbiddenly explored as a child.

[end flashback]

Solo looked down at the child in his arms, smiling as the boy snuggled up to him. "You will now be called Duo, no more of this Demon Child nonsense. We'll show those mean villagers that you are human, perhaps more so than they ever hope to be."

The now named Duo blinked open his eyes. Staring up at his rescuer, Duo smiled a goofy smile.

"It's just you and me pal. Just you and me." Solo informed Duo. "You're Duo now, you're very own person. You hear me Duo? You're human, not a demon."

Several years later - about 5 actually - Solo started showing Duo around the jungle. Since he loved to explore as a child, Solo was very knowledgeable about the jungle. He told Duo what plants are good to eat and what are dangerous. Basically, Solo taught Duo how to defend himself if anything should happen to him - like die. Solo taught the boy all he knew, knowing that one day, he wouldn't be around to help him.

When Duo turned the age of about 10, something dreadful happened.
