{Song: "Where love hides" by Ralf Schuckett, Performed by Belinda Carlisle}
intro music
A handsome man with an extraordinarily long chestnut braid is surrounded by children playing in the park. They are laughing and playing some complicated game of tag involving a lot of screaming and giggling as they run around in circles. Suddenly they stop. The children run towards their parents. He stands there alone as they leave, raises his hand to wave, a smile on his lips, sadness in his eyes. In the distance, a tall man leans against a tree, his long silvery blond hair cascading down his back with the same sadness reflected in his eyes. He is watching the other in the playground who doesn't seem to notice him.
I open the door
You stand there in the rain
The blond is alone in the lounge room, the lights are subdued. It is dark outside, lightning flashes can be seen through the curtains of the windows. He walks toward the door and opens it. The other man, with dripping wet braid, is standing there. His lips part as if to say something but pauses and nothing is said.
Your eyes say it all
and I know 'cause I feel the same
The ice blue gaze meets that of dark violet as time seems to slow and stop. He steps back and the other walks in. Closing the door, he turns to face the other. Their eyes lock again and they both move toward each other.
Why do we do the things we do?
How can both of us be so cruel?
Why are we so afraid?
Time seems to slow
Why are we so afraid?
They stop as they get within touching distance of each other. He reaches out with his hand, palm upward, offering, waiting....... The other looks at the offer, his own hands clenched in fists at his side, his shoulders trembling slightly.
Take my hand and step into the light
As we touch our hearts will open wide
Kiss my lips and hold me now
And lie here by my side
Help me find a place where love hides
The room they were in, is now empty. Outside the storm seems to increase in its ferocity. A lone figure stands silently in the shadows across the street, the lights within the house darken. A flash of lightning reveals them standing in the bedroom window looking out at the storm. The braided man has his hands on the glass as he is embraced from behind.
I follow you home
You smile in the dark
In the early hours of the morning, in the darkness before the dawn, they walk hand in hand along a deserted street. Outside an apartment building, they stop. The braided one reluctantly slides his hand out of the other's grasp as he crosses the street. Reaching the darkened doorway, he turns around and as their eyes meet, he smiles before entering the building. The door closes behind him.
I hear your words
How they twist me and tear me apart
He holds the phone to his ear, the red color, bright against his pale hair. His smile slowly fading as he listens intently. He has yet to say a word.
Why do we hurt the ones we trust?
On the other end of the line the speaker is vehemently arguing his point over the phone. Words tumbling out, one after the other spilling into the phone even as his tears spill from his eyes. He keeps talking, curled up in a big chair by the phone, unconsciously rocking back & forth.
Is that all that's become of us?
As he hangs up the phone, a single tear escapes brimming pale blue eyes to slide down his face.
Why are we so alone?
He stands in the middle of an empty house, staring at nothing, shoulders slumped in defeat.
Why are we so alone?
The other is still in the big chair clutching his braid to his chest sobbing brokenly against the armrest.
Take my hand and step into the light
A bright faced teenager bounces toward him, a bright grin plastered on his face, lips forming the words as he offers his hand for a handshake.
As we touch our hearts will open wide
The indulgent smile looses its condescension, becoming genuine as the tall handsome college boy replies and shakes the offered hand.
Kiss my lips and hold me now
In a dark secluded corner of the club, people dancing and drinking around them, they lean into each other, he lowers his head as the other looks up, tilting his heartshaped face invitingly, offering his slightly parted lips...
And lie here by my side
They fall together onto the bed in a hotel room, he reaches out to turn off the light. Long fingers interlace with his, stopping him.
Help me find the place where love hides
Waving to the departing children, the braided man turns around and slowly he starts walking toward the tree, a different kind of smile playing on his lips. The look he is now wearing is reflected to a lesser degree on face of the one standing there. They stand close together but not touching, under that tree, quietly talking.
We will find the place where love hides
The tall blond reaches out to the other, open palm facing upwards, offering...
instrumental interlude
A Japanese man with unruly dark hair crouches on a rooftop, high powered rifle trained at a target on the street below. Eyes of cobalt blue are cold as he takes careful aim, his finger tightening on the trigger.
An angelic looking, short haired blond in an expensive suit is standing on the sidewalk next to a big black limousine, he looks upward as his bodyguard dives at him pushing him to the ground. Hair covering half his face, the bodyguard scans rooftops with emerald green eyes.
Why do we hurt the ones we trust?
Inside a busy police station, detectives snicker as the lieutenant receives a bunch of white roses. She frowns at them as she tips the delivery boy and carries them into her office reading the card. A stern looking woman, she pushes her spectacles further up her nose and writes furiously on a notepad, roses forgotten on her desk.
Is that all that's become of us?
Three men face each other in an empty warehouse. The angel, his bodyguard and the sniper. The two have their guns trained on the one, whose two guns are trained on both of them.
Why are we so afraid?
A Chinese man with a ponytail spins around and kicks out at the two men behind him, landing lightly on his feet. He is surrounded and they close in on him.
Why are we so afraid?
The braided one screams and runs toward the sniper as he falls backward blood spurting from the bullet wound on his chest. A strong arm manages to wrap about his waist before he plunges headlong into the crossfire. The larger blond urgently whispers to him, dragging him backwards away from the fight. The fallen man is still on the other side, his blood smeared on the wall behind as his body slides to the ground.
Take my hand and step into the light
Under the tree in the park, the smaller braided man tentatively puts his hand in the open hand before him, accepting...
As we touch our hearts will open wide
They melt into each others' arms tenderly embracing. One looks up, the other leans down and their lips meet. They hungrily taste each other, clinging together, holding on for dear life.
Kiss my lips and hold me now
And lie here by my side
The morning light falls across the bed, they are tangled with each other, chestnut hair mixed with platinum gold, fanned over the sheets, languidly waking to a new day.
Help me find the place where love hides
We will find the place where love hides
We can find the place where love hides
The End
