Ok onto the 6x2 goodness! Gotta love 6x2... Even if it isn't the focus of this story you still gotta love it! And Zechs look-a-likes running a muck! OH! And happy birthday Kadiyosa I hope it gets better for you! ^^
Warnings: Ok this is massively AU and its PG pretty much so far. Also I highly suggest you do not attempt to do math concerning ages and years on this story. I think I got it all right but it gets confusing when you try and calculate it all out. I got confused doing it and I'm the author!
Pairings: 2x6 implied 3x4 and 1x2
Disclaimer: Gundam's not mine. It (unfortunately) belongs to people with actual money. Like those wonderful people at Bandai Entertainment, Sunrise, and all those other companies whose names I don't know. Please don't sue because I own nothing, if I believe what my mother says I don't even own my clothes or my hair.
Feedback: Please tell me what you think. I really do like hearing what you think of my story! ^^
After Colony 210
Zechs Marqise was staring at a ghost. No, not a ghost, a mirror. A mirror copy of himself. His mind didn't register that the mirror looked almost ten years younger than him, or that the platinum hair was longer and tied back in a rather sad looking pony tail.
Just a moment ago he had been walking along with Duo enjoying the peaceful afternoon. Duo had been chattering on about something and Zechs had been thinking of all the nice, and not so nice but still fun, ways he could make Duo shut up. Or, at least, put that over active mouth to better use. Then, they had been knocked down by someone running very fast. Zechs had looked up prepared to yell at the person who had dared to knock him flat on his ass, and frozen. Next to him he felt Duo tense up in surprise as well.
For a few second, which really felt like a small eternity, they all simply stared at each other in shock. Zechs saw the visible utter surprise on his copy's face. However the moment was broken by far off shouts. The man's nail blue eyes shifted from gawking at Zechs to a point behind him. Letting out a muffled, but very explicit curse, the man, no he was boy really, scrambled to his feet and took of running down the street again. As he and Duo struggled to their feet OZ soldiers rushed by chasing after Zechs' still fleeing mirror image. They stood there in shock till they saw the figure turn the corner, only then did they seem to break out of their trance.
"Zechs who was that guy? He, he looked just like you except, I mean, well, it obviously wasn't you!"
"I don't know who he was Duo... Or how he looks exactly like me."
Almost without conscious thought their hands sought each other, fingers linking together for support. Zechs rubbed his thumb in slow, comforting arcs over the back of his husband's hand as he tried to think. He almost smiled when he looked over at Duo.
He never would have thought, dreamed, during the war that he would end up married to the maddeningly cheerful, energetic, and smiling American Gundam pilot. Who knows what might have happened if Heero hadn't died... Duo and Zechs had first met each other again a year after the war at one of those endless political parties Romafellor loved. Relena had insisted he attend if only to be her escort. He'd caved in after hours of pestering about how good it would be for him. So heed attended and been bored to death before he caught sight of Duo.
The boy had grown several inches, ah how well Zechs remembered the agony of last minute growth spurts, but he looked rather gaunt. It was obvious even to a blind man that he was still mourning the death of his lover. The fact that Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell had been lovers was perhaps the worst kept secret of the entire war. Zechs had slid through the crowd and approached Duo. After chatting for a while they'd left together, and gotten drunk.
After that their relationship had progressed to a close friendship which had lasted until one particular rainy night. It had been two years since their meeting and three since Heero had died. Zechs had been attracted to the braided man, he'd long ago admitted that to himself, but he had controlled his feelings because he didn't want to ruin their friendship, since Duo had still seemed to be recovering from loosing Heero. But that night Duo had broken down and admitted that he was attracted to Zechs. That was the start but it wasn't until six months later that they could admit they loved each other. And six months after that they'd gotten married.
Eleven years, he'd had eleven blissfully happy years with *his* Duo. They'd been married for 8 of those years. Just the thought still made a smile cross his face.
"You're not even paying attention to me are ya Zechs?"
A vicious poke to the ribs jerked him back from his wanderings. He smiled down at Duo still awed at the beauty of his husband. Even at 29 he still had more energy than some people half his age. Which wasn't always a bad thing. He still wore his hair in a long chestnut braid that now reached his mid-calves in a shimmering chestnut rope. They'd both grown and Duo was still shorter than Zechs, but only by a few inches. Zechs still wore his own platinum mane long, stopping at his lower back. Duo's body was still lithe and sleekly muscled from years of fighting. The round, almost cherubic, face had given way to leaner more mature adult angles, but it was still beautiful.
"As I was saying I wonder that guy was? I mean he looked like you, but obviously he wasn't you. The only thing is he looked maybe ten years younger and his hair was a bit longer. And why in the world were those OZ soldiers after him?"
Zechs just shrugged and pulled Duo closer, playing idly with the long chestnut braid. "I don't know, but let's go home and think about it, shall we?"
He couldn't believe he'd let himself get sidetracked like that! He pressed on his legs, straining to run even faster than he already was. He had to ditch these soldiers soon. Making a wild turn into an alley he quickly messed up the trash cans. He clanged the chain link fence several time, creating the illusion that he'd climbed over it to escape. Then he hid in a doorway and held his breath.
Luck was with him, and the soldiers hadn't gotten any smarter with time. They fell for the act and went to intercept the terrorist on the other side. Once they were gone the man let out his breath slowly. That had been *way* too close for comfort.
He pulled his long, platinum hair back into its usual ponytail and stepped out of the alley, casually loosign himself in the throng of people. He keyed his wrist comm silently waiting for an acknowledging beep before speaking.
"Angelous here. I lost the dogs so I'll meet you at the pound."[1]
There was momentary silence before a nice, even tenor voice, at odds with Angelous' throatier growl, answered. "Roger that. I lost the dogs too. See ya there."
"See ya OD."
The man named Angelous felt a grin spread over his face as he started walking away to meet up with his fellow partner in crime.
