Note: About that little addition to the Zechs and Duo pairing, I felt that the others could use a bit of romance to...spice things up so to speak.
~Wild Thang - Part 35~
After a couple years of exploring the world beyond the jungle, Duo decided that he was ready for whatever spell Une had given his father. Zechs, still very much in love with his wild jungle man, followed him, encouraging him. Many things have changed within the village over the years. The villagers were more open-minded about the world at large. Curious faeries could enter the village without fear. The Fang Tribe would interact more often with the village and life was peaceful and well.
Treize and Quatre had married a few months back. Trowa and Wufei had married a year earlier. Relena had became a successful politician and kept fighting for the safety of natural regions such as jungles, forests, and lakes. So far, she's winning hands down. As for Heero and his mysterious lover. No one would have guessed his beloved until he married Noin Lucrezia.
Zechs and Duo had informed their friends that they were going to see Elder Maxwell. The others insisted on following. So they all trekked over to the lake which is the home of Elder Maxwell and other water faeries. Elder Maxwell was waiting for them as they reached the lake. Ever since the arrival of the spell, he's been keeping a closer watch on the land-dwellers, hoping to see his son come to him one day.
"Father." Duo said.
"Son. You've grown so much." Elder Maxwell commented. "And still very much in love I see."
"I am." Duo said, tugging Zechs forward. "What is the spell that Une gave you?"
Elder Maxwell smiled, "It's a spell that binds you two together for as long as you two shall live. Faeries are known to live longer than mortals. Elder Yoda is over a thousand years old. And he still lives."
"So you're saying that Duo may live that long?" Quatre asked.
Elder Maxwell nodded, "That's why Une gave me this spell. That way, Zechs wouldn't die at then end of a mortal's time. He would live as long as you live Duo. And not only that, your faerie abilities would be shared with him."
"Which means that if I want to live with you for a while, he could survive?" Duo asked eagerly.
"That is correct." Elder Maxwell said. "Do wish this spell to be casted now?"
Duo looked at Zechs in askance. Zechs smiled and nodded. Duo turned back around and nodded as well. Upon completion of the spell however, the scroll that contained the spell vanished.
"What was that about?" Wufei asked.
"It seemed that Une doesn't want anyone else to have that ability." Elder Maxwell explained.
"That is reasonable. If humans knew of that spell, they'd be wanting to be married to faeries." Treize said.
"So, what are you two going to do now?" Heero asked.
Zechs looked at Duo, "I will go where you go."
Duo blushed, "I want to spend some time with my father. Then, maybe track down any of of my ancestors on my mother's side. I want to be able to learn what spirit faeries do."
"Then welcome home, son and son-in-law." Elder Maxwell said, hugging them both.
